A nutritionally balanced soup that delivers a nice jab of flavour.
Key nutritional facts:
High in fibre, aiding slow steady energy release.
Chilli powder high in vitamin A
First… Get these ingredients together…
- 1 -2 shallots
- 1 can of beans (doesn’t have to be 5 bean, could be any bean really, the key is to have fibre)
- 1 can of tomatoes
- A dash of worcester sauce
- 1/2 to 1 tablespoon of mild chilli powder
- 1 stock cube
- 2 garlic cloves
- A knob of butter
- Your favourite chilli pepper
Fry the shallots, garlic and chilli and the chilli powder together in the butter for 10 minutes at a medium heat to let the flavours meet and greet each other. Put the kettle on and have a cup of chai tea while you wait… 😉
Add the can of tomatoes and beans and cook for a further 20 minutes on a low heat, then blend thoroughly… Unfortunately, because I’m a stupid prick, I forgot to take a picture of that step.
You should end up with something like this…
Remember you can’t extract water without having to wait ages while it evaporates off from a soup so always make it with not enough water, as you can always add more at the blending stage to make it up to the consistency you like.
Looks yummy! I love beans and I read somewhere recently that they have a component that helps with fat-burning. I only thought it was their fibre content that was valuable for weight loss as it keeps the hunger at bay.
This is a recipe that I must try to get me away from my usual bean stew.
